The design of this lamp is inspired by schizophrenia.
The word schizophrenia is derived from the Greek words for to split (schidzein) and mind (phren).
This splitting is related to fragmenting of the thought processes.
OOOMS translated this into a design where the ribbed surface creates two different shapes.

The inner shape is a classic lampshade. The outside is more neutral, and looks a bit like a beehive.
When turned on, the inner shape of the Schizolamp will be emphasized due to the translucency of the material.

The Schizolamp is made out of EPS, a material which makes the design very lightweighted.
A transparent finish makes the lamp durable and easy to clean, while maintaining its natural color.
