Milkmaid

Commissioned by the Dutch souvenir project and initiated by the European Ceramic Work Centre, the Milkmaid by OOOMS  is not your typical keepsake. Inspired by Johannes Vermeer’s innocent painting “Het Melkmeisje”, this Delft blue ceramic figurine will certainly be a talking point if you leave it out on your mantelpiece!

Coaching at Cedim

In May 2011 OOOMS was invited for the second time to Cedim, a very well equipped design school, located in the northern part of Mexico.

Our task was to coach two groups of students, both with their own individual assignment. One assignment was to design innovative products for the biggest beer brand of Mexico, the other was to design a ceramic plate for a traditional Mexican meal.  We coached both groups intensively for 2 weeks and are proud of what most students have achieved in such short time.

Hollow land N 51 24.928 O 05 19.640

About one third of Holland (meaning “hollow land”) is below sea level. Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport is built in the middle of a former lake Flevoland, which is also reclaimed from sea, is on average 8 metres below sea level. The concept of “Hollow Land” highlights the fact that Holland is not only flat, but below sea level as well. These topographical depressions are as iconographic as wooden shoes and tulips. A mould is made of a hole in the ground, somewhere in the Netherlands. From the mould, a perfect replica of the hole is produced in ceramics.
