The creative home of Guido Ooms and Karin van Lieshout. Since 2017, we’ve been handcrafting kitchen knives that have found their way into the hearts (and kitchens) of chefs and home cooks around the world.

Meet the makers

Guido and Karin are a complementary design duo – two very different personalities that just click. Hidden away in the cozy southern village of Geldrop, their backyard workshop is where ideas take shape and sparks of creativity turn into tangible tools.

Guido is a curious soul with a deep love for the past. He finds inspiration in scrapyards and secondhand stores, where forgotten materials are transformed into clever machines, tools, and eventually – knives.

Karin brings focus and precision to the mix. Her love of cooking is reflected in every detail of her work. She keeps things sharp (literally and figuratively), balancing Guido’s wild ideas with a practical eye and a steady hand.

More than just knives

Before diving into the world of blades, Studio OOOMS was already known for its playful and unconventional designs. Think Wooden USB Sticks, Puzzleboards, Goldplated Staples, Ceramic Milkmaids, and even an Anti Gravity Machine. Their imaginative work has caught the attention of brands like Adidas, Hugo Boss, Bosch & Siemens, 3M, and institutions like the Guggenheim Berlin – even Queen Máxima owns a piece of OOOMS.

Designers & educators

When they’re not in the studio, Guido and Karin are sharing their passion for design as tutors at Design Academy Eindhoven and the University of the Arts Utrecht. They also travel the world to give workshops on upcycling and creative thinking – from Brazil to Mexico, and from Indonesia to Singapore – always coming home with new stories and lasting connections.
